Collier & Catchpole
Building a visual identity and marketing strategy for the long-term

Collier & Catchpole are a well-established, respected builders’ merchant within East Anglia with depots in Colchester, Ipswich and Lawford. With trading roots going back nearly 200 years, the business has a strong brand built on customer service, quality products and competitive prices.
When we first met with Collier & Catchpole, they were looking for a creative and strategic marketing agency who could help them implement and develop their marketing strategy over the coming years. This has included re-designing their trade deals collateral, promoting and managing events, establishing their social media platforms, copywriting and designing trade catalogues and brochures, and supporting them with their website.

The Brand
As an established business, Collier & Catchpole already had a brand identity. However, this brand had evolved over time and had many inconsistencies. We identified they would benefit from a brand design refresh, retaining core colours but working to ensure these were used consistently across all collateral. We also refined processes and guidelines for images presentation, making visuals cleaner and more digestible. The result was a strong brand identity featuring quirky and clever images and simple yet powerful design.

The Marketing
We have worked closely with the Managing Director and Sales Manager at Collier & Catchpole to develop a considered marketing strategy that works to the business budget, seasonal trends, and their long-term ambitions. This plan covers areas such as social media across multiple platforms, public relations work, website, in-store events, marketing collateral, signage, promotions, community awareness work, charitable endeavours, photography and videography, and customer research.

Press and Public Relations
As a well-known business within the local community, Collier & Catchpole is of public interest. With the launch of their new depot in Lawford, we achieved both regional and industry press coverage.

Photography
Within our work with Collier & Catchpole, we have undertaken a wide variety of photographs for them to use in marketing collateral, on social media and in the press. This included headshots, event photography and new location images. From the opening of their new Lawford depot, to a charity drive to France, and the donation of a cement mixer to Stanway High School – we were there capturing every moment in crisp, clear detail.

Thank you to the team at Aphra for your work on marketing our new depot in Lawford. We have had fantastic feedback from all of our customers; every single person we met ahead of the official launch said they had already heard the news thanks to our social media campaign, digital advertising and leaflet drop. We also had a great response from everyone popping by the new depot once it was open, with many noting to our team that it was thanks to this marketing that they knew we’d launched. We look forward to continuing our work with Aphra.
